BABCOCK RANCH, Fla. (Sept. 9, 2019) – Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town located just northeast of Fort Myers on Babcock Ranch Road/State Road 31, is hosting a hurricane relief drive through Friday, Sept. 13 to collect supplies for residents of the Bahamas impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
Members of the public are invited to join Babcock Ranch residents and Kitson & Partners employees in donating needed items, which are being collected in Founder’s Square in downtown Babcock Ranch. A truck donated by Cheney Brothers will be located in the parking area immediately to the west of Slater’s Goods & Provisions to facilitate collections.
Items most in demand include: Damp Rid kits, mosquito netting, insect repellent, livable tents, box fans, air mattresses, bedding supplies including pillows, blankets and foam mattresses in waterproof packaging, bleach and cleaning supplies, extension cords, batteries of all sizes, packaged dry food items and canned goods.
On Sept. 13, more than 100 Kitson & Partners employees will work together to separate, sort and package the donated items for transport. The relief effort is being coordinated with the Green Turtle Cay Foundation, a Guidestar-rated non-profit organization formed in 1996 to promote the common good and general welfare of the barrier island community off mainland Great Abaco – one of the areas most directly impacted by Hurricane Dorian – and Backpacks for the Bahamas, a grassroots campaign to send backpacks filled with supplies to children impacted by the storm.
Syd Kitson, the President & CEO of Kitson & Partners, was recently interviewed by Florida's Women in Energy Leadership Forum. "Throughout your career, you have been a champion for clean energy, what influenced you to…Read More
