Babcock Ranch breaks ground on Babcock High School

BABCOCK RANCH, Fla. (July 19, 2021) – Site construction is underway for the highly anticipated Babcock High School, a new state-of-the-art, project-based learning destination at Babcock Ranch for students in 9th through 12th grades.

The two-story building will be connected to the existing Babcock Neighborhood School – which serves students in kindergarten through 8th grade – via a covered walkway and will incorporate 24 classrooms, with specific rooms for media production, science labs, a green room, and a collaboration room.

“Providing the children in our hometown community with access to world-class education has always been a key component of the Babcock Ranch vision,” said Syd Kitson, chairman and CEO of Kitson & Partners, the developer of Babcock Ranch. “To see this next step in our development come to fruition, and to witness how it will provide an easy transition into the all-important high school years for our K-8 students, is incredibly meaningful.”

Along with the high school, a new field house will be constructed on the school campus to serve as a location for both school and community activities.

This development phase for Babcock Ranch also includes the addition of multi-purpose fields, a baseball diamond, and a softball field to Jack Peeples Park. As Babcock Ranch continues to grow, these significant projects and amenities will serve to further promote and enhance a safe and healthy lifestyle for residents and community members, said Kitson.

Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town and recently named the 25th top-selling master-planned community in the U.S., offers homes from seven homebuilders in seven neighborhoods. Construction is nearing completion at Crescent B Commons, the 82,640-square-foot Publix-anchored shopping center at a new entrance to Babcock Ranch about one mile south of the signature Babcock Ranch bridge.

Created by Kitson & Partners with respect for the natural environment and the philosophy that smart growth and sustainability work hand in hand, half of the town’s footprint is set aside as greenways, parks and expansive lakes, providing recreation and scenic backdrops for Babcock Ranch’s homes and the Founder’s Square downtown district. Babcock National brings golf to Babcock Ranch with an 18-hole Gordon Lewis-designed course as the centerpiece of Lennar’s new lifestyle community.

Babcock Ranch homebuilders offer more than 50 home designs ranging from 1,120 to more than 4,000 square feet. Homes appeal to young millennials, families, empty nesters and retirees alike, with prices ranging from the $200s to over $1.5 million. Built to Florida Green Building Coalition standards, homes emphasize energy and water conservation and offer a full gig of fiber-optic connectivity.

Within Babcock Ranch’s welcoming neighborhoods, more than two dozen model and quick-delivery homes are now open or under construction by AR Homes by Arthur Rutenberg, Divco Custom Homes, Florida Lifestyle Homes, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pulte Homes and WCI.
