2008 Ranch Breeding Requirements

We appreciate your business and want your breeding experience at Babcock Ranch to be a good one.  For the safety and health of your mare, and all the mares at Babcock Ranch, we require the following BEFORE your mare arrives for breeding.  Please review our requirements and contact us if you have any questions.

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL:

  • Signed Breeding Contract to Babcock Ranch with a copy of the mare’s registration papers.
  • Book Fee paid in full.
  • Notify Babcock Ranch at LEAST 24 hours PRIOR to arrival with the date and time of arrival as well as the breeding stallion, hauler’s name and phone number.
  • The following vaccinations must be administered by a veterinarian within 30 days of arrival: Eastern / Western Encephalitis,Tetanus, Flu, Rhino, West Nile, and Strangles

  • We require a current Coggins within 6 months of arrival.
             

THINGS YOU MUST HAVE THE DAY YOUR MARE ARRIVES:

  • Balance of Stud Fee / ET Fees paid in full
  • Health Certificate
  • Copy of Mare’s Registration Papers
  • Legible copy of Coggins (see above for date requirements)
  • Veterinarian’s Certificate of vaccination history (see above for required vaccinations and dates) If you cannot provide proper documentation of vaccination history, we will vaccinate, at owner’s expense, upon arrival when the mare gets out of the trailer, no exceptions.
  • If your mare is in foal;Sire of foal and last breeding date
  • If your mare is a wet mare;Sire of foal, foaling date, and all relevant foal medical history
  • Your mare will be de-wormed upon arrival at Babcock Ranch.

On Site Breeding Babcock Ranch stands eleven stallions of the highest quality bloodlines available to date. We are able to fulfill all your breeding and mare care needs.
Cooled Semen

Babcock Ranch Breeding Facilities provide the opportunity to receive semen from quality stallions while having your mare at home. Cooled semen shipping involves the following charges:

Fed Ex • $350 per shipment
Airline Shipping • $450 per shipment

A semen shipment includes the cost of collection, evaluation, and shipment of the semen.

Embryo Transfers Babcock Ranch offers you the opportunity to enroll your mare in our embryo transfer program with the Babcock Ranch Embryo Transfer Program
Transported Semen

Babcock Ranch Breeding Facilities are equiped to receive semen transported from other stallions to breed your mare on site.

Chute Fee • $500

Foaling Services

Babcock Ranch Breeding Facilities offer full time foaling services and postnatal care. Every effort is made to assure the utmost safety and comfort to both your mare and foal.

Foaling Charge • $750
Includes: monitoring of foaling - $250, and Plasma - $500 (2 liters administered at $250 each)

Resident Veterinarian Our resident veterinarian is available for procedures that allow us to better service your mare's reproductive needs, such as the handling of cooled and frozen semen, as well as embryo transfers in addition to your mare and/or foal's daily observation, care and maintenance. Our vet is available on-site 24 hours, 7 days a week.

2007 Protocol for Shipped Semen

To make breeding season run as smoothly as possible, please note the following Shipped Semen Protocol.

Mares shipping to Captain Nice & Chicks Acky Braky will only ship Counter to Counter.

  1. Coordinate all shipments in advance.
  2. Notify office when mare is coming into heat and no less than 48 hours before you expect to need a shipment.
  3. Contact the office no later than 10:00 am THE DAY BEFORE we collect to cancel or confirm shipment. Cancellations made after 5:00 pm CST the day before the shipment will be charged for the shipment.

Mares on the premises of BABCOCK RANCH have breeding priority on any given breeding day, therefore, NO GUARANTEE is made regarding the availability of cooled semen for any specific day. Babcock Quarter Horses, Inc. is not responsible for any untimely delivery or condition of the cooled semen, as we have no control of conditions after shipment leaves Babcock Ranch.
