Steven R. Bond, DVM

Dr. Bond was born and raised on a beef cattle ranch and farm in Montrose, Colorado.  He graduated from Montrose High School 1971.  He has two brothers – one lives in California and one in Idaho, and a sister who has lived in Alaska for the last 25 years. He developed an interested in veterinary medicine because of his involvement with beef cattle and horses growing up.

Dr. Bond attended Colorado State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1975 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1979.

His first job after graduation was at a 90% cattle practice in Alliance, Nebraska.

In 1981, Dr. Bond purchased his first veterinary practice in Riverton, Wyoming.  It was a combined cattle and equine practice.  In 1987, Dr. Bond sold his Wyoming practice and relocated to California to specialize in equine medicine.  It was here that he opened Tehachapi Equine Medical Services in Tehachapi, California from 1987 to 2002.

In 2002, Dr. Bond moved with his family to Texas to continue his specialization in equine medicine and focus specifically on reproduction.  He went to work at Performance Equine Associates in Whitesboro, Texas.  This was a 5-man equine only practice where Dr. Bond specialized in equine reproduction.  He was the resident veterinarian at Kedon Farms, located in Weatherford, Texas for one year before joining Babcock Ranch in February 2007.

Dr. Bond is assisted in his work by his wife Kristin.  They now reside on their ranch in Whitesboro, Texas with their two children.  Their son Luke is 14; and their daughter Linzy is 13.
